Get Brenda and Eric to Rio

Not many years ago Brenda and Eric Pryor welcomed their second child into this world: Jason Alexander Pryor.

Like many parents we exposed our son to a variety of experiences that helped shape his journey as a child and young adult. Little did we know, that one of those experiences would result in qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games!

The video that we have shared helps tell the story of how Jason embraced the sport of fencing, and how he has devoted the last six(6) years of his life pursuing a childhood dream: Representing the United States of America in the Olympic Games.

In March of 2016 Jason's dream was rendered reality when he qualified for the U.S. Olympic team at a Grand Prix in Budapest, Hungary. Honestly, this was the most surreal of moments.

Our rule is that when Jason is overseas we use text messaging for communications. While driving to meeting my brother Leon Anderson III to view the NCAA basketball tournament on March 18 2016, I received a voice call from Jason.

I immediately pulled over to park and accept the call and received the most awesome news that Jason had qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. I will never forget that moment for as long as I live!

There have been so many blessings along Jason's journey. He has been supported by friends, family, church family and well wishers who share his vision and sacrifice. He is on his way.

Nearly a year ago our family stepped out on faith and purchased our tickets to the Olympic Fencing venue to support our son in his Olympic journey.

So many people have supported Jason as he moved from Colorado Springs to New York City to make his final push. We have instilled in our son reliance on faith. Interestingly, our Pastor Rodney Maiden (Providence Baptist Church) delivered a sermon recently that spoke to the relationship between hope and faith.

                              ONE DAY..... ONE SHOT

Along the way, Brenda and I have been preparing for this most awesome once in a lifetime experience. We are both self-employed and 2015-2016 has been a bit of a mixed bag for us. Our summer retainers have not manifested themselves.

We've been able to secure travel and lodging. However, there are other expenses including inoculations
(Hepatitis, Malaria, etc.)  that have gone wanting to this point. We've been having lots of discussions on preparations for mosquitos and digestive illness. While we're not looking forward to dealing with these things, there is no way we are not going!

So we began to consider alternatives. Little did we know that prior to our ministrations we would be supported by our good friend attorney Fredrick Iverson and Brenda's Small Group Ministry!

Unsolicited they have assisted us in experiencing this once in a life time event. We are so very grateful.

We can benefit from a bit of additional support to help us round out this last mile. This is where you come in:

- If you are so led we gratefully appreciate any gifts
- If you are so led, we appreciate you sharing our story with your family, friends and colleagues
- And if you are so led, please tune in for Jason's Olympic debut!

For all who support us in this last push we will be producing a DVD that features Jason's Olympic push.

Jason Pryor represents the United States of America on August 9th. NBC is currently not featuring Jason's event on television. However, you can view his event in high definition over the Internet by visitng the following link: http://www.nbcolympics.com/live-stream-schedule/fencing?day=4
