Circus Zambia COVID Campaign

Help the Circus Zambia community survive the COVID pandemic!

You can help the Circus Zambia family survive these crazy times. We are raising funds to support over 70 families with monthly food and sanitation packages, as well as creating a safe space for young circus Zambia performers and trying to keep our organization afloat. Help us do this!

COVID-19 & Its effects

The COVID-19 Pandemic has put a stop to all Circus Zambia activities. For the safety of our people we have had to pause our free training, education projects and all performances and workshops. Not only in Zambia but also planned activities in Rwanda, UK and the USA are cancelled and/or postponed.

The effects of this are:

-        25 people who depend on Circus Zambia for their livelihood are left without income

-        Over 70 young people who belong to the Circus Zambia family are not going to school, have little structure and lack access to information on how to protect themselves against COVID-19.  They are living in families where income is drastically reduced and where social distancing is not an option.

-        The Circus Zambia company is dependent on income earned through events. Right now we are running on reserves -which are quickly depleting - in order to pay our bills.

What We Are Doing

Circus Zambia has already started implementing measures to help its community, including providing hand washing stations in Chibolya with BORDA, raising awareness online and directly in the community as well as providing a safe space at our hub for a selection of our members.

But We Want To Do So Much More!
- Provide monthly food & sanitation relief package to 70 the Circus Zambia families who live in Chibolya, Garden & Mutendere, which includes food and essential protection gear such as masks, sanitizer, soap and disinfectant.

-        Raise awareness online/ and on radio to share information and discuss how people in slums can protect themselves against COVID-19, given the fact they are not able to just stay at home and practicing social distancing is difficult in crowded households and neighborhoods.

-        Support the Circus Zambia staff and performers by creating a safe space in a lockdown camp at Circus Zambia where food, necessities and support is provided

-        Support the overhead costs of the organization to ensure we are able to survive this and continue existing after this!

We envision that the effects of COVID-19 will stay palpable in Zambia until at least December 2020. So we ask for your help to ensure we can continue supporting our circus family through the coming 8 months.

We need your help.

Circus Zambia

Circus Zambia is a social enterprise and has been in existence for over 4 years. Normally, we work directly with over 500 young people and reach over 5000 people with life-saving messages and information every year. Every week over 70 young people come to Circus Zambia for free circus training, education and support. Additionally, we employ around 25 young people who earn an income through performances and workshops. Young people also get a chance to perform abroad and experience and learn around the world.
