Dear friends,
If there is one word to describe Matthew, it would be warrior! He has been fighting the glioblastoma brain cancer battle for 3 years strong in September 2016. He has undergone chemo, radiation, medical trials and countless MRI's, ambulance rides, and surgeries. He has taken thousands of pills, gone to numerous doctors, and as of July 27th is under hospice care. Throughout his entire fight with GBM he has remained a strong father, husband and son for his family. He hasn't given up and has had a positive attitude through it all.
This fight is not over even though Matthew's recent MRI shows this aggressive malignant primary brain tumor is spreading like wildfire with new tumors throughout his brain including the brainstem. Matthew is a father/husband/son/brother/nephew. Matthew and his wife are high school sweethearts and came to San Diego from the Carolinas to start a life together. They got married in their mid-20's and Matthew was diagnosed less than a year later with GBM. They had 1 beautiful child Paxton (4.5 years old) and during Matthew's treatment they were told it would be dangerous for him to have another child, but by God's good fortune they were blessed with another beautiful baby girl, Madison (1.5 years old). Matthew's wife Judy is a full time employee and the sole provider for their family. They dreamed of raising their beautiful family in sunny San Diego together, but due to Matthew's diagnosis they have had to stay local and limit their family outtings due to the countless doctor appointments, hospital stays and surgeries.
When Matthew was diagnosed and had the surgery in LA he went in unknowing the outcome and the battle he would face, but he prayed constantly. He knew each day was a gift and was constantly praying to God for giving him another day with his beautiful family.
Their family has been blessed to have Matthew face this battle with their support and now they can use your help. Judy, Matthew's wife has had to take family leave from work to care for her husband and their children, but since she is the sole provider it has been very difficult on their young family. Every little bit helps. Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, and support.
