Our beloved Isabelle Hall, 24, passed away peacefully on April 30th due to complications related to a bone marrow transplant in 2017. Diagnosed at the age of 19 with Aplastic Anemia, she fought her disease with a quiet strength and maturity beyond her years. She lived her life, though far too short, full of fun, compassion, love and strength. Her smile and beautiful blue eyes could light up a room when she was present. To honor her memory, her family and friends hope to raise funds for a few causes that were near and dear to her heart and her journey.
Some of Isabelle’s most joyful times in life were spent at the Iowa State Fair. As an annual summer activity, she enjoyed camping at the fairgrounds with her family, eating fair food, attending concerts and watching horse shows. A portion of funds will be used to purchase a memorial bench in her memory. Also as a nature lover, she enjoyed visiting Bennett Springs State Park in Missouri. A trip to Bennett Springs included fly fishing with family. A portion of funds will be donated to help maintain the park that Isabelle loved so much.
Organizations that hold a special meaning to us and Isabelle are Be The Match and Mayo Clinic. As a bone marrow transplant recipient, Isabelle was a strong advocate for the bone marrow registry, often encouraging people to register. She personally knew the value of the statement “You could be the only person who is a perfect match to save another person’s life.” After receiving her donor match, Mayo Clinic is where Isabelle was blessed with some of the most knowledgeable and compassionate caregivers, including the admirable Dr. P. It is here where she fought her toughest battles while being cared for in the best healthcare facility in the world. Donations will be made to these two amazing organizations in Isabelle’s memory and in support of others that have journeys like hers.
