In Loving Memory of Kay Roska

Alice Kay Roska, known by everyone as Kay, passed away on November 9, 2018 at 68 years old. It was the end to a courageous, nearly five-year battle with primary peritoneal cancer and Alzheimer's disease. But it's not the end of her story, memory, and legacy.

Kay was a fighter both in spirit and profession. As an environmental attorney for 25+ years, Kay fearlessly counseled her clients on compliance and risk management to adhere to safe standards for the environment. She possessed a quiet strength and resilience that inspired those around her. After her cancer surgery in 2014 and throughout years of chemo, she amazed everyone by continuing to work every day. To Kay, keeping hope and doing what she loved was the only way forward. Just shy of 5'2", Kay was petite but mighty. She kept her head up through the endless doctor appointments, treatments, and responsibilities at work and home. She even traveled to New York shortly after a near-fatal hospitalization last September to attend her daughter's wedding. Kay was determined to be there for her family, friends, and colleagues as long as her body would let her.

She was as warm as she was tenacious, touching everyone she knew with her welcoming presence, positivity, and kindness. In the end, she expressed several times that she was "sent here to help people" and worried that she may not have helped enough people in her lifetime. We reassured her that she helped anyone who ever met her, even just by giving them a flash of her bright smile, and that she'd continue to help people long after she left this world.

Here, we remember Kay and keep our promise to continue helping people. We continue fighting in her memory and for all those who have been affected by these tragic diseases. Please help us to raise funds to fuel research to successfully treat and hopefully one day cure cancer and Alzheimer's. Upon hitting our goal, we will split the donations evenly to support the groundbreaking work of the Cancer Research Institute (https://www.cancerresearch.org) and Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation (https://www.alzinfo.org).

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your contribution.

With love and gratitude,
