Help Blitz Battle!

Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 5 month old Cavalier King Charles/Bichon mix who ran away from home on Thursday 7/28 and was hit by a car. A Good Samaritan found him dragging himself in a driveway at a church in Stephens City, VA. He is quite fond of children and was apparently pulling himself towards them seeking help. The Good Samaritan quickly transported him to a near by ER. Blitz was found to have a broken pelvis, both his femurs were fractured and one of his tibia bones was smashed to smithereens. Blitz should have been grouchy and snappy because of his injuries but he never so much as lifted a lip. This boy is all wiggles, positive energy, tail wags and kisses! He has been on strict cage rest and managed very well on pain medication. The first day and night was scary because he did not have anal tone and couldn't urinate on his own. But the next morning everything changed! Even though Blitz cannot use his back half he amazingly pulls himself up onto his front legs with his abdominal muscles and walks along to urinate outside! He is a miracle and we will not give up on him!
We were able to track down his owners through his microchip but sadly due to the circumstances the owners have decided it's in the pet's best interest to surrender him to a local rescue. Hampshire County Pet Adoption Program has gladly agreed to take little Blitz on and are currently trying to raise the money to help cover his surgery costs. This little boy has a long road ahead of him but with HCPAP I know he will persevere! His surgery is currently scheduled for this Monday, so we have to do our best to make the ends meet for Blitz! He deserves a second chance!
Please share his story far and wide and every donation, no matter how large or small will make a difference in Blitz's life.
Because of the long road to recovery that Blitz has in front of him he will obviously not be available for adoption for some time. Once he is fully healed and cleared by his surgeon HCPAP will begin reviewing adoption applications.
If you would prefer to mail a check directly to the rescue their mailing address is Hampshire County Pet Adoption Program Po box 109 high view 26808.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer them! HCPAP has any other dogs up for adoption and always have their plates full, so please direct questions to me regarding Blitz at this time! Thank you so much!
