Hello everyone
As most of you know, I have to move house at the end of this month due my lease expiring. Normally, this would be fairly stressful for an anxious homebody like me, but it’s made especially difficult because I’m struggling financially, and have been for some time. There are many reasons for that, and certainly wrapped up in this move is the opportunity for me to find a place a bit less expensive than where I am now. Long-term, it will be a positive change. But the fact is that right now I need help to get to that better place, so here I am asking for it.
My target is to raise $1200, which should be enough to cover a deposit, including perhaps a pet deposit, and to hire cheap movers. I haven’t found a place yet, but I have to start looking soon, and being able to pay the deposit as soon as I do discover a home will make the process much smoother. If I get more than that through this effort - great. But my minimum is $1200. (Canadian, by the way, for my American friends. Your greenbacks translate well here. Same with British pounds. The Canadian peso is fairly weak at the moment.)
You might be wondering about William. I have a feeling that my tough little man will be fine through this process. He’s strong and mighty and will be able to weather this storm. Oh, he won’t be happy about it, but at least he’ll have new places to claim for his own and new perches to sleep on and survey his new domain. He’s been cooped up in this place for three years now, so I think a change will do him good.
And it might do me a world of good as well. I know that if any of you were around, you’d help in other ways, whether it be helping me look or helping with the mechanics of moving. There’s so much to do. But this is a way you can help me that is tangible, practical and greatly appreciated.
Most of you know that I haven’t been very well, emotionally, for a long time now, and what gives me the strength to carry on is knowing that there are people in this world who genuinely care about me and want to help. It means the world to me. So, I hope that my asking for help from you isn’t just charity and isn’t just a financial transaction, but rather an opportunity for you to express something far beyond helping me move house. It’s about those times when friends need each other. Which is why this appeal is only going out to very close friends who have expressed an interest in helping me. I don’t want to make the wide public appeal, because that isn’t what this campaign is about. It’s about friendship, and I want to keep it that way.
