Eanna's Sudden Medical Emergency

On Sunday April 17 we took our 2 year old dog to the vet due to concerns about her not eating and being suddenly very lethargic and unresponsive. Upon arrival to the vet it was discovered that she had a temperature of 105 (101 to 102.5 is normal) and was dehydrated. Right then and there we did preliminary blood work, which showed a severe decrease in her red blood cells, white blood cells and platelet count.

This caused immediate concern to the vet, who recommended that we hospitalize her so that the source of the fever could be identified and treated as well as determine why her cell counts were severely low.

At that time we had her hospitalized in an attempt to stabilize her & identify the cause for her low blood counts.

Since that time she has had a urinalysis, tick borne panel, abdominal X-ray, lung exam, and bone marrow extraction all completed in an attempt to find answers.

She remains on fluid therapy for hydration, and multiple doses of antibiotics a day in a attempt to fight whatever infection she has which her body can not fight due to the diminished blood cells and platelets. We are hoping that the results of the bone marrow extraction will be in today (4/20) so that we will have an idea how to guide treatment.

This is all very sudden and quite heartbreaking for myself and my husband. Eanna is a very loving, playful, energetic dog whom had brought so much joy to our lives I can't even explain it. The sudden and overwhelming financial impact has us pulling from multiple resources in am attempt to cover the costs of treatment & testing. Any and all donations would be deeply appreciated.
