Ryan McCabe - Lifesaver
In May 2015 Ryan decided to sign up for the "Be The Match" national bone marrow donor registry. Ryan received a phone call notifying him that he was a match for a patient with a terminal blood cancer. This was an anonymous donation. This person was a complete stranger to Ryan. They had an extremely aggressive form of leukemia, and they needed a bone marrow transplant to survive. That's where Ryan came in.
Be The Match called him and informed him that he was a perfect match, and that his bone marrow donation would save this person’s life. They asked him if he would be willing to go through with the procedure. Ryan was very excited, and he told them he would do whatever it took to help.
After a lot of appointments and a TON of tests, Ryan was cleared to donate. He jumped on a plane and flew halfway across the country.
The transplant team at the hospital was amazing. The surgery went well. They made 2 small incisions in his lower back into hs hip bone, and extracted over 6 cups of bone marrow. That marrow has been transplanted into the recipient and will replace their immune system, effectively curing their leukemia.
That’s where this story takes an unexpected turn. Ryan returned from his trip and his 2.5 ton Mr. Slim air conditioner that cools his garden is dead. In the middle of summer. Ryan depends on this garden for his livelihood and his own health. The HVAC guy told him it's a 3-4 thousand dollar repair. Ryan doesn't have the money. His washing machine stopped working and needs repaired too. He doesn't have the money. For the first time in years, he doesn't have enough money to pay even his basic bills, and Ryan is never late on his bills. It just feels like every possible thing that could go wrong, is going wrong for Ryan.
“Right now the only thing keeping my head up is knowing that my marrow donation really did save someone's life, and there's no money value to something like that. That person has been going through far worse issues than I am currently.
I'm just asking all my friends and family to send me some good vibes. I'm still dealing with the after effects from surgery; pain, fatigue, lack of proper sleep, you name it. All these problems are just culminating into what feels like an insurmountable depression.
If I've learned anything throughout life, it doesn't help at all to keep these feelings to yourself.
So please, if you pray, say a prayer for me. If you don't pray, send some good vibes my way.” – Ryan McCabe
That’s where we come in. If you have anything to spare, you can help Ryan in this time of need. He never asked any of us to donate to his cause, he just needs help and if you can spare anything today, I’m sure Ryan would appreciate it very much. Let’s face it, good vibes and prayers aren’t always answered. Why don’t we all pitch in and give him what he really needs? Peace of mind and enough cash to float him through this tough time. I admire Ryan, but I don’t have the cash to give him everything he needs right now, but I am hoping with the help of many shares/likes, WE can all get Ryan back on his feet. I’m sure he’s deserving.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. All money raised in this campaign will go DIRECTLY to Ryan. He needs it ASAP.
