Lisa didn't care to share her journey on fb. Now that she is gone, we'd like to share it with all of you.
3 years ago in May 2013, she was in a very tragic accident and by the grace of God, she survived. However, because of that accident, they found that she had Acute Leukemia (AML) with some very rare complications. For three years she has endured so much including a stem cell transplant in October 2013 (her brother Ronny was the donor). She was doing better (the Leukemia was in remission) but then she had a relapse and went through 27 months of chemo. In early July 2016 she got a parafluenza virus which required infusion treatments. Unfortunately, those treatments caused blood clots and she ended up having a slight stroke landing her in the hospital on July 25th. That was followed by a massive heart attack causing congestive heart failure and irregular arrhythmias. And to top it off, the Leukemia returned (a 3rd relapse). Her Doctors informed us on tuesday, August 9th that due to all the complications coupled with the heart issues that there was no chance for her to survive. Due to the irregular heart arrhythmias, she passed away peacefully in her sleep at the hospital early thursday morning (8/11/16). We are all very devastated to lose our beautiful Lisa Ann Amaya.
She was an amazing wife to Lilman for 41 years, a kind and loving mother to Loretto and Alena, a great mother in law to Grace and Jr and the best Nana ever to Andrew, Azalea, Isaac and Anthony! She was also a loving sister to her older brothers Ray and Ron, older sister Lynne and twin sister,Lori. She is survived by her mother in law, sisters in law, many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and so many many friends! She is already greatly missed and will never be forgotten.
