Mag's Story.............
Hello to everyone. My name is Mags and my foal is called Milly. Sadly I have not had a good life as my old owners did not look after me and my feet got so bad I could hardly walk. I was really skinny and had painful sores over my body.
My old owners took me to the slaughter house but luckily for me they could not put me down as I was in foal. I didn't know what was going to happen to me and the stress made me foal early.
Then one day we were both put into a big lorry, I could hardly stand, we were travelling for over four hours, then we suddenly stopped. The doors opened and there was a big grey haired man with a kind face, who picked up my foal and carried her to the new stable. He then came back and gently walked me into my new home, his wife said to me that we were safe now and nobody would hurt us again. I felt safe for the first time in my life.
The vets came to see me and gave me strong painkillers and over the passing weeks I got stronger, have put weight on and my sores have gone. I will be on medication for a long time and my feet will take probably 12 months to be completely healed.
Me and Milly have made great friends with the other donkeys and the two sheep here. All the donkeys here have been rescued and thanks to our new owners we are all safe, well and happy.
It would be wonderful if someone could help us to pay for my ongoing medication. We also need to put a hard standing area in one of our paddocks to protect our feet front the wet (especially in the winter). So, it would be fantastic if anyone could help us.
Many thanks for listening to our story
