Greathouselabs machines for the disabled
Donation protected
My name is Lance Greathouse and I live in Phoenix, AZ.
I am an electronic engineer by trade and long time fabricator and inventor. I have been designing and building all types of machines since a very early age. I have built machines for Robot Wars, various TV shows, and various maker and entertainment events.
It wasn't until my brother came down with a rare form of Parkinson's disease and was confined to a wheelchair that I found my true calling! I was able to use my skills to design and build cool functional wheelchairs and other products for him and other disabled people.
I design and build part-time after work and on weekends in my backyard shop. I have basic tooling, but hope to secure more advanced equipment to move up to the next level and be able to help more people full-time.
Below are some of the tools and equipment I need to accomplish this mission:
· CNC plasma cutter
· Upholstery machine
· TIG welder
· Paint booth
· Various specialty wheelchair tools
I have just finished a six-wheel drive independent suspension go anywhere electric wheelchair that I would like to mass produce and get out to people who really need to be able to go anywhere without having to depend on others. I have also just completed a protype high speed three-wheel scooter.
I have many people emailing me asking for help with designing something to help them to live a better life with their condition, or just a basic chair that they cannot afford. I currently am able to donate a couple of chairs a year to people who have no funds or insurance, but are really deserving. When I get my venture up and running, I hope to be able to donate more chairs to deserving people. There is nothing more rewarding than showing up to someone's house to donate a cool functional one of a kind wheelchair.
I plan on putting a web camera in my shop so people can take a look at what I am doing and know that the money they donated is going to a good cause.
Please help me make this a reality.
Thank you,
Lance Greathouse
