Boise to Baton Rouge - Flood Relief
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Derek. My wife and I call Boise home, but are originally from south Louisiana. You may have seen news coverage of the historic flooding occurring in Louisiana. The flooding occurred quickly, and without warning. Thousands upon thousands of Louisianans have lost everything - including many of our close family and friends who were rescued in dramatic fashion in, and around, the Baton Rouge area.
These communities had to flee rapidly-rising waters with only the clothes on their backs and are now in immediate need of food, water, shelter, medicine, toiletries, clothes, and the tools and materials to begin cleaning up and starting over. In short, these folks need money - now.
Imagine everything in your home - clothes, food, your bed, school supplies, underwear, etc... - gone.
I'm asking you for $5… More, if you can. Less, if you can.
Please help me in raising funds to distribute $500 Visa Gift Cards to as many families as possible. EVERY penny counts and no donation is too small! $25,000 will provide $500 Visa Gift Cards for 50 families. If we can do more, even better.
We will start by giving to the families close to ours who are directly impacted (21 at the time of this writing), then provide any additional funds to the Louisiana Red Cross.
My friends in Idaho, around the country, and around the world - many are in need tonight, but help me put life-saving funds directly into the hands of those in Louisiana who need it NOW.
If you know my wife and me, you know how much Louisiana and our families there mean to us.
Please help NOW!
NOTE:
How the money will be withdrawn and distributed:
1 - I will withdraw the funds in my name
2 - I will use those funds to purchase Visa Gift Cards
3 - Cards for families we know personally will be sent to my mother, and sister, both nurses in the affected area, who will get them directly in the hands of those who need it
4 - Additional funds will be sent to the Louisiana Chapter of the Red Cross, specifically for flood victims (I've spoken with the Idaho Red Cross, and they will help me facilitate this)
