Baby Kai's Micro Preemie Fund
Donation protected
Overview: My sister (Keeara) and brother in-law (Matt) need your help through a very difficult time. Where most parents start making memories with their first born child in the comfort of their home, they do not get this luxury. Kai, was born a micro preemie and will be living in the hospital for his first few months of life. As a micro preemie, Kai struggles with the most basic of activities such as breathing and eating. With hospital bills looming, and stress building, their family needs your help!
Their Story: As first time parents, Keeara and Matt were ecstatic to have their bundle of joy in early November. Starting to baby proof the house and decorate his room, they were hit with the scare of a lifetime as doctors told them they would soon be having their baby boy about 15 weeks early. Briefed on what to expect from a baby born this early, including its chance of survival was absolutely terrifying. Soon after the news Keeara had an emergency c-section due to Kai being breeched. On July 25th, Kai Jameson Cassidy was born at 25 weeks, 4 days gestation. Immediately after being born, Kai was swept up and the doctors began their work. Unsure if their son would live or with what complications, Mom and Dad waited in angst as the doctors stabilized him.
Kai began his NICU journey on a CPAP machine (for breathing assistance), feeding tube and an assortment of other things to help him get stronger. With underdeveloped lungs, Kai has needed assistance with every breathe that he takes. But Kai is a fighter. Through all of the ups-and downs, he continues to grow healthier and stronger. Weighing under 2 lbs at birth, Kai has grown to almost 3 lbs!
Through many long days and nights, Keeara and Matt have shed tears of sadness and joy. From watching Kai being put on a ventilator, to holding him in their arms for the first time, they continue to experience the rollercoaster of a ride that is the NICU.
Please help Keeara and Matt cover some of the financial burden associated with Kai's time in the NICU. Donations are greatly appreciated as well as prayers, and the sharing of Kai's story.
I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping these 3 people that are so dear to me. Words cannot explain how grateful they have been for all of the moral support that they have already recieved.
P.S. If you were touched by a preemie at some time in your life, Keeara and Matt would love to hear from you as well. Speaking with people enduring/overcoming similar situations is a great way cope.
