Spotz is a young, sweet boy, only a year and a half old, who is dealing with a mysterious illness that most vets never see in their entire careers that has required numerous tests and specialists. He is too young to give up on! His mom, Samantha, has done all she can to help Spotz survive. His specific case is so rare, none of the veterinarians have seen this situation before. They have been able to narrow it down to an autoimmune muscular disease with almost 90% certainty. Spotz went from fine to being horrible emaciated, weak, and drooling in only a matter of days. He has also developed megasophogus during this ordeal and will need to be fed in a Bailey Chair.
Spotz's mom, Samantha, has always been there helping the local animal community for many years, and she needs our help now. Spotz has had a feeding tube inserted and we are awaiting the results of a biopsy to help determine what course of action to take.
We are hoping that, at the very least, this experience with Spotz can help the veterinary field and animal advocacy field be better to identify this rare ailment. There are so many times that we come across a dog and think we know what the problem is, but certain ailments can masquerade as more common illnesses. Spotz was showing signs close to lymes disease or of toxins in his body, his white cell count was off of the charts.
Please help Spotz and Samantha. They have such a strong bond and a long road ahead of them. He is such a young, loving boy and deserved every chance at recovery.
