Burn Victim Cat Needs Help!
Donation protected
Yesterday afternoon a nearby farm had a horrific barn fire. My family and I saw their huge barn engulfed in flames and rushed over to see what we could do to help. The fire department arrives shortly after we did, but the fire had spread so quickly that most of the barn had already collapsed. The firefighters ran in anyway trying to save any animals that may have been trapped. I was stunned when they came out with armfuls of baby pigs! We rushed over to help take them from the brave firefighters. The pigs were very hot, stressed, and struggling to breathe. We quickly ran cool water over them to help them recover. They all seemed shook up, but overall fine. As I ran with one baby pig to the water, I noticed a horribly burned cat gasping for air lying under a tree. His entire body had either been extremely singed or badly burned. He could not see so how he made it out of that deadly blaze and got to that tree, I will never know. I handed the baby pig over to another person and kneeled down to comfort this poor cat. I looked up and heard several people tell me to leave him there and let him die. I cannot and will not walk away from any living creature that is suffering! I was going to help him even though I know no one else would. His life mattered too. So we rushed him to our local vet to see what, if anything, we could do. Carrying him, my hands literally turned black from all the burned fur falling off of him.
The doctor immediately put him on oxygen and started assessing his condition. He was most concerned about his breathing as it didn't seem to improve even after a few hours. I was told that if he made it, he will have a long road of recovery ahead of him.
This morning his breathing has remarkably improved, his eyes have opened a little(although he still cannot see) and even though his mouth is burned, he was able to eat on his own! This is enough to tell me that he wants to keep fighting for his life, so we need to be there to help him with this fight!
As said earlier, his battle is a long one and not without many costs. He is in critial care and may need to be moved to a facility that is specialized to help him recover.
100% of any donation will be used solely for his care and recovery. We will also be excited to share his journey with you with updates and photos.
Please help us show him that he is loved and that his life matters!
By the way, the reason I have not told you his name is because he doesn't have one. If you have an idea of what to name him, please let me know!
