Kyler Bergsten's Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Kyler Eli Bergsten's fight began on April 28th when he was born alongside twin Reese at Children's Mercy Hospital. His diagnosis of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome meant that at about the time that Reese went home, Kyler underwent the first of three planned open heart surgeries. He never quite made it to the second.
Parents Dillon and Leah-- alongside family and friends-- cherished every moment of Kyler's life as they fought along with him, learning about themselves and the world along the way. He gave them great joy, sadness, and hope every day of his life until he peacefully passed in his daddy's arms at 11:20PM on Sunday, August 14th, 2016.
Kyler's spirit will live forever in the heart of family and friends. His mark will be made on the world every day by those whose lives he's touched-- by the way his sweet smile warmed hearts and by his perfect, pure innocence that deserved to live in a world of equal love and beauty.
If you want to honor Kyler's life, please do so by respecting the beauty and fragility of life. Take no one for granted, and start loving those around you today. Respect that everyone is different, everyone has bad days, and everyone is precious. Reframe your perspective and focus on what is truly important.
We have created this page for those who wish to tangibly donate in honor of Kyler. Dillon and Leah are still working on how to make allocations, but here are the ways that Dillon and Leah will use the donations: 1) funds to create a garden and plant a tree in Kyler's memory, 2) a donation to Children's Mercy Hospital and/or the Ronald McDonald House in Kyler's name, 3) a college or therapy fund for Reese and Maxton, who will undoubtedly be hurt by their brother's loss when they are old enough to understand.
Children's Mercy Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House at CMH are two places which served, comforted, and ministered to the entire Bergsten family for the 3-1/2 months that we called the hospital our primary home. If you have the opportunity/privilege to donate any of your time to volunteer at CMH or serve meals at the Ronald McDonald House, we know that you will be making a very real difference in the lives of families like ours. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping Kyler's memory alive.
Blessings,
The Bergstens
