My parents have worked hard for everything they have. After 42 years of marriage, their home and vehicles were paid for and my dad's dreams of retirement were on the horizon. Their life and dreams were shattered after their home and vehicles were destroyed during the catastrophic flooding in Denham Springs last week. Sadly, like many others, they do not have flood insurance to cover the structural damage and contents of their home. Everything in the home is counted at a loss and they are at the mercy of FEMA to cover the structural damage only through disaster assistance. Through analysis of other disasters, they could only receive as little as $5,000 which would barely touch the repairs needed. They need help with basic needs as well as help with filling their home with furniture and appliances that were destroyed during the flood and covering any structural damage that FEMA does not. My parents are the kind of people that will never ask for help from anyone. I am asking for them because they deserve to continue with their dreams and and my dad deserves to be able to retire. I know they will appreciate anything given. I And I will be incredibly grateful and thankful for any amount given to help them heal and make their house a home again. Louisiana Strong, Mandie
