Armstead Home Evacuation Fund
Donation protected
My name is Pat McKinney and I am a retired choral music educator. I am hoping to raise funds to help a colleague in the Lansing area, Doug Armstead, who has been battling mold and fungus in his home since the sewer cleanout drain broke in Aug. of 2015, leaving a basement full of raw sewage. None of the damage was covered by insurance. Doug and his family hired professionals to help with the clean up, and they began the process of putting their home back together. Unfortunately, the company who did the work, left much undone which was only recently discovered - AFTER they had remodeled the entire house! In addition, there was toxic mold growing on an exterior wall of the house, and those spores were being sucked into the house by a window air conditioner. Everyone in the family has been very ill, forcing Doug to leave his teaching job last November. Now, they have a toxic house, cannot live there, are very ill, and have exhausted their funds in the extensive remodeling. Currently they are living in a hotel and need to raise funds to pay for temporary housing and a trip to the Cleveland Clinic, which is the only place with the knowledge to help them restore their health. They need to raise funds quickly as living in a hotel is obviously very expensive, and their savings is depleted. Doug and I have been been long time colleagues and friends. The choral music world in Michigan is truly like a family, and I am hopeful that we will gather around to support Doug and his family in this extreme time of need. I will be so very thankful to be a part of relieving some of the financial stress they are under and to help give them some breathing room. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.
