Ann's Courageous Fight

Donation protected

Everyone deserves adequate medical care regardless of any prejudices. Please read, share and support Ann's story with everyone you know. Ann is a 42 yr old, loving mother, wife, daughter and friend. In mid July, she developed a swollen foot with extreme pain. Even with no insurance, Ann knew it was worth paying for to find out the problem. All the urgent care advised was go home and apply ice. After 2 1/2 weeks, 2 urgent care visits and going to see primary care physician they now say after her toes are purple that you have Type II Diabetes and a blood clot you should go to the ER ASAP. Upon arrival all they cared about is if you have insurance or not. If you don't we can help. Leaving her husband to decide on what plan to choose, while he's worried and concerned for his wife. Ann was prepped for emergency surgery where we almost lost her due to an allergic reaction that caused several blood clots to form and the Dr's had a hard time removing them all. A stint was also placed in her chest for another clot. As Ann was coming around the next day and releaved the surgery was over, only to find out we almost lost her and the fight is only beginning to save her feet/legs. After 24 long days in the hospital, her husband staying strong by her side, never leaving it. The Dr's were unable to save both feet and she had 1/2 the right foot amputated. Only to be told 1 week later, sorry your insurance doesn't cover Rehabilitative Care so we're sending you home because we can't help you. They sent her home with poor wound care instructions, no diabetic medicine or Coumadin. The fear and the unknow on how are you going to care for your wife once your home. No one should ever have to feel this way. Not even 2 days later Ann's back in the ER with cellulitis and admitted. After release again, still sent home with inadequate care instructions and no coordination of care. Only to follow up with your primary in a couple days. Having several stairs in your home becomes a huge challenge to go anywhere. Ann arrived for follow up appointment at the primary to only be told your to difficult for me you should see internal medicine. No INR was done, no prescriptions filled and back at square one. Feeling defeated and exhausted from all the effort to get there and for nothing. Ann's husband found a place to take her for the wound care which wasn't pleasant, but necessary. After less than 1 week, the wound care stated, sorry we won't be here next week due to the strike so we are removing the vacuum pack and we can't see you anymore you should call your Podiatrist. After both of them not working for over 4 weeks, how can there be no program or assistance to help them in any way. Where is the compassion in healthcare? Never in my life have I ever heard of such negligence of care from such a broad spectrum of medical providers. No one should ever have to watch their loved ones suffer in pain. Everyone deserves the same quality medical care. Please help in supporting Ann get the Rehabilitative Care she deserves.
