Hi, my name is Mike Rees and I’m asking for your help…

Like many others, my work has brought me to Vietnam but whilst living here for the last 3 years I have realised just how lucky we are to come from our developed countries in regards to the healthcare we have available. For so many young families in Vietnam, what would be the most basic or affordable of procedure is just simply not an option due to cost and so I am setting out to make a change for just a few of those people. For that, I need your support! 

In Vietnam, there are many children who suffer from congenital heart disease that are in desperate need of lifesaving heart surgery organised by Heartbeat Vietnam. Sadly their families cannot  afford the cost to save them. The lifesaving surgery these children need costs $1,200 USD per child, but the families of these children often earn as little as $50 per month. Without our help these children will die a slow and painful death and their families will have to helplessly watch.

With your help I want to participate in a fantastic charity initiative called Cycle for 16 which is raising money for these children. It’s a bike ride starting on Friday 1st September in Hanoi and ends in Ho chi Minh 16 days later. I will be participating for 3 days from 9th September from Hue to Kon Tum and cycling over 100km per day. I want to bring awareness and make a significant contribution to this charity and hopefully with your support.

My goal is to raise enough to save the lives of at least two children and for this we need a minimum of 2400 USD for the surgery. Every dollar and cent donated will go directly to these children for the surgery they desperately need. Together, HOPEFULLY WE CAN RAISE MORE THAN THIS AMOUNT AND SAVE MORE CHILDREN as there are many disadvantaged children here in Vietnam who are in need of surgery.
