5 yrs ago Sarah began her earnest fight with breast cancer. Quickly life had changed, and appointments and procedures took over day to day life. Many lovingly refer refer to Sarah as stubborn, and it served her well. She was fighter, and came at cancer swinging.
Throughout the next 5 years Sarah kept up with her treatments, and yet never missed a parent teacher interview, an opportunity to visit family and friends, or have a fun trip or outing with the family. Her sense of humour helped her and those around her cope in the hard times, as she was always ready with her quick wit and ready smile. Her laugh was contagious. Her Portuguese/English sayings were hilarious. To know her was to love her.
This week Sarah set down her gloves, as her body was too weak and tired to go on. With so much sadness her family and friends say good bye to their mom, daughter, wife, sister, tia, cousin, dance partner and friend.
We appreciate and say a huge thanks to all those that have helped with meals, rides to appointments, babysitting, cleaning, encouragement, and prayers throughout these last years. It would have been a harder and lonelier battle without your love.
Sarahs fight is over but the journey of rebuilding life without her is just beginning. Please now join us in supporting her husband, Darren, and their children, Marisol, Leland and Alexia.
If you would like to help cover costs of funeral, or to donate towards the kids’ future this account has been set up as a place to easily support the family in this way.
