Local Family In Need Of Our Help!

Donation protected

On August 16, 2016 my co-workers husband Walter "Marty" Chavis had some blood work come back that showed his red blood count - white blood count and platelet count to be extremely low. His results were forwarded to a Hematologist in Charleston and they called and said he needed to come in immediately to have a blood transfusion. After arriving at the Dr's office he was admitted in the hospital and had to have a bone marrow biopsy done to rule out Leukemia. After test results ruled out Leukemia they then had to find out what was causing his bone marrow to not produce red blood cells - white blood cells and platelets. After running lots of test they have diagnosed him with MDS. Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a family of rare disorders in which the bone marrow fails to make enough healthy red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Instead, it produces underdeveloped, or immature, cells that have an abnormal shape, size or look. Most experts agree that MDS is a form of blood and bone marrow cancer. He has not been able to work since the 16th of August and will now have to be out for several more weeks/ months because he has to have Chemo injections. They are like most working people and it is hard to pay bills on one pay check when you are budgeted on two pay checks. I'm asking that you please help this family out with any donations you can give.
