Caregiving for Mikaila

Let me introduce Misty's daughter, Mikaila who is presently admitted to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. She spent the first week in the Intensive Care Unit.
She currently has a staph infection in the bones of her ankle and is undergoing antibiotic treatment.
She has been diagnosed with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and has been in and out of hospitals for the last 5 years.
If you are familiar with this disease then you know that it attacks your body in many different ways.

Misty has been at her side as her caregiver every day and keeps Mikaila's multiple teams of doctors on the same page to prevent any errors that might occur.
Now Mikaila will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant and will need chemotherapy and will be secluded in a hospital room for 4 to 5 more weeks.
Her mother , Misty would like to continue to be at her side and in the past her employer has graciously allowed Misty to work from Mikaila's bedside. Now, with Mikaila's failing health issues and the need for Misty to be there more often, it is difficult to split the time at work and at Mikaila's bedside. She will have no choice but to go on an unpaid FMLA to stay with her daughter, which means that she will not have any income during this time and that is the reason for this fundraiser.
