Foster Youth DC Trip
Donation protected
My name is Jerry Joyce. I am a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for a foster child in Northern California. Court imposed confidentiality restrictions prevent me from sharing specifics about my 13-year-old foster youth, but I can assure you he is a wonderful boy – who loves history! He is an 8th grader this year. One of his history teachers has set up an educational field trip to Washington, D.C., at the end of the year. He would love to go. The cost is $2,500, a difficult financial stretch for a normal middle class family, but an impossible stretch for a foster child. I am seeking help to fund this effort. He’ll spend a total of 6 days together with classmates in D.C. learning really cool things about our country. Here are some of the awesome activities that are planned for him on their visit: 1. The Capital: Visit the Rotunda and the Senate and House chambers where Congress meets, 2. The White House, home of the executive branch of our government, 3. The Lincoln Memorial, 4. Arlington National Cemetery (changing of the guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Eternal Flame at JFK’s gravesite, and the Challenger Memorial), and 5. The Smithsonian Museums (Air and Space, and the Museum of Natural History)
For my CASA Foster Child to take part in this totally unique adventure, I need to raise $2,500. Please help me by sponsoring a portion of his trip. Any contribution you could make would bring him that much closer to this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
If you have any questions or want to hear more about this wonderful learning opportunity, WorldStrides is the educational travel company organizing our trip, and you can check out www.worldstrides.org for information about their trips and safety record. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jerry Joyce, Alameda County CASA
NOTE: If perchance total contributions exceed the Washington, DC, trip cost, the additional moneys would be used for educational opportunities in the greater SF Bay Area
