Cost Of Keeping Your Child Safe
Donation protected
Hi everyone, for those of you that know me already, you are already aware how I am raising 3 children. I have been doing so without any public assistance and working a 40 hour + work week. Besides my work, I give back to the community by volunteering at several non profits plus serving the Lord at Bucks Church in Langhorne.
Over the past few months one of my children has become afraid to visit his mother. In the past this child has reported that his mother has threatened to have him kill himself, has attempted to strangle him, has threatened to put his cat into the street so it would get hit by a car if he did not listen to her and other incidents that has put him in a place where he does not feel safe being with her. I was forced to make a decision to either put my child in harms way or violate a court order that said has to visit his mother. I have tried contacting the local children and youth services, but since he has counseling services with his Mother there is nothing they will do, even though the counseling has been attempted for the last 6 years. As I believe any father who wants to protect his children would do, I choose to protect my son, even if it meant facing jail time or a fine by the courts.
Recently, his Mother filed a contempt of court charge against me for witholding him from her. I was unable to afford an attorney and even tried to sell my only transportation to provide for one. His Mother, because she does not work, has a free attorney. Even though I presented reports from several psychologists regarding the emotional abuse he has been going through and advised the Judge to seek all of the child's counseling records (which he did not do), I was given a fine of $1500 that I have to have paid by September 30, 2016.
This comes right after spending hundreds of dollars on school supplies, haircuts, clothing for my children and inspection costs for my vehicle.
We simply do not have an extra $1500 lying around to do this. The Lord has blessed me greatly with what I do have, especially my three children, the home we rent and my vehicle. If I pay the $1500 to the courts instead of my rent, then we are in even bigger trouble. If I sell my vehicle to cover the cost then I won’t have a vehicle to continue to take care of my children’s medical, dental and school needs.
Quite simply this puts a dent in my pride, of being able to take care of my children, but I do not have a choice but to ask for help. There are no groups for single fathers out there like there are for single mothers to help financially. My churches benevolence fund has so many great needs in our church body that I do not want to ask them for help on this. Any support of any amount would be greatly welcomed.
