Alex's Final Bucket List
Donation protected
Hey everyone! I'm starting this GoFundMe page in order to raise money for adventures I have been trying to experience for the last five years.
A little over five years ago I was a 20 year old normal, healthy college kid. It wasn't until May of 2011 that I was given the bad news that I had Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. Since the initial diagnosis I have been receiving continuous chemotherapy while going back to school and playing football. During this time period there have always been scares from different cancerous spots popping up and I either changed chemotherapies or recieved the same chemotherapy more often. I would also receive radiation therapy whenever the cancer would get out of control.
That brings us to May of 2016. I had a CT scan in my abdomen that seemed to show more cancer activity in the lymph nodes. I elected to stop the chemotherapy that I was on and take a month break. After that break, my oncologist was able to find an experimental drug that was intended to boost my immune system to fight my cancer.
Finally, in mid August this year, I was having difficulty breathing. The CT scan showed pnuemonia along with extensive cancer lesions in my lungs and liver. Now I am faced with a choice to either continue with another very difficult chemotherapy, that would undoubtedly make me sick and unable to function very much at all; or I could skip chemotherapy and try to live up the rest of this life that I still have to live.
This money that I am trying to raise will go towards my bucket list of experiences. As of now I am thinking of a trip to Yosemite National Park in California, skydyving, a trip to Wyoming to meet my priest from my childhood, and at all possible get my passport stamped for visiting another country.
Thank you for your donations, thoughts, and prayers. If you cannot donate please share this post on your facebook.
