Dylan Haynes was severely injured in a dirt bike accident on 11/27/2019 in which he has suffered a brain injury. We are launching this go fund me to help take some of the financial burden off of Dylan's family during this very difficult time. The funds raised will be used for past, present and future medical bills and continued care for Dylan as well as housing, travel and any other needs that may arise for his family as they continue to travel to and from the Shepherds Center in Atlanta, GA.
THE STORY
November 27, 2019, the Haynes family received a phone call that would change their lives forever. Their beloved son, Dylan, was in a terrible dirt bike accident. He went unconscious immediately and had to be air lifted to UF Health in Jacksonville, FL. He went straight to ICU where the doctors determined that the accident caused him to have diffuse anoxal brain injury. Dylan was in an induced coma to help the severe swelling on his brain. The Haynes family had been desperately trying to get Dylan into a rehab facility called Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA to get him the care he really needs. After fighting with the insurance company for weeks he finally got approved. Dylan is very lucky to be alive. Below is a post from Dana on 1/29/2020:
POST FROM DYLAN'S MOM DANA
"All I ever asked for was to give Dylan Haynes the best possible chance at recovery. And even after 3 denials from the insurance company and 4th denial from the external review board we never stopped fighting for him. With all of the prayers, letters written and phone calls made the insurance company reconsidered their decision and approved Dylan to transfer to Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Dylan will be admitted in ICU to begin with. He has started following some commands just not consistantly. The Disorders of Consciousness program they offer is designed to help him emerge. But I know God will continue to heal Dylan and he will come back to us. This has been a very difficult time for our family and I am sorry that I have not personally responded to you all. Please know that we sincerely appreciate all the love, support and prayers from each and everyone of you.
We are leaving UF Health in the morning and flying Dylan to Atlanta. Please pray for a safe flight and continued healing as we have a long road ahead of us."
ROAD TO RECOVERY
Prior to the decision being overturned Dylans parents have been paying people to sit with him round the clock due to problems that arose with his care while in the hospital. On 1/30/2020 Dylan was flown to The Shepherds Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dylan was accepted into the ICU and will eventually go into their rehab. Dylan's road to recovery is just starting. We predict there will be many challenges in the future, both mentally and physically. The long-term effects of the accident are unknown but what we do know is that it will be a long one and there will be a lot of expenses that will not be covered by insurance.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
We are asking you to contribute to this campaign if you possibly can. We ask that you share this campaign and we would also ask that you pray for Dylan and the entire Haynes family.
