2nd Hailsham Scout Group New Scout Hut Fund
Hi!
We are 2nd Hailsham Scout Group.
Our Scout Group has been running since 1934, then was halted during the war effort and re-registered in 1945.
We actively engage and support young people from 6 to 18 years old in Hailsham and the surrounding area, in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
(Duke of Edinburgh Awards)
We currently run a successful Beaver Colony (6-8 years old), a thriving Cub Pack (8-10 years old), an active Scout Troop (10-14 years old) and an exciting Explorer Unit (14-17 years old).
Our activities include camping in sub-zero temperatures, travelling abroad (for some it's the first time they have been out of the UK), living as refugees for a weekend, creating positive action to reduce food poverty in our area, learning first aid, CPR and how and when to use a defibrillator, knowing how to safely change a car tyre, fundraising for local charities, beach cleans and other environmental projects, as well as achieving nationally recognised awards including the Duke of Edinburgh award.
(Eastbourne Beach Clean)
Nearly all our sections are over subscribed and have waiting lists.
We are 100% volunteer run and receive no government funding at all.
Due to expansion, safe access and other external factors, we need to move premises.
We have secured land to build a new, purpose build Scout hut within the grounds of Grovelands Community Primary School but now need to raise funds towards this build.
We have bag packed, baked and bob-a-job-ed, as well as quizzed nighted and hiked and have raised nearly £8,000 in just 3 months, but we’re still away off our end target.
Mums, Dads, Grandads and Nannas, teachers, councillors, business owners and local sports personalities are all supporting our campaign…...please support us too!
Any donation, however small will help make an impact.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
