You're a life saver

Many of you, who know me personally, know that I am half German and Somalian. Although I was raised in Germany, we always remained connected and in touch with my mother’s side of the family in Somalia.
My father passed away when I was 16 and before that both of my parents helped support my mother’s side of the family with anything they needed.

Since my father’s passing, my sister, mother, a few of her siblings and myself, switch up on a monthly basis to send money to my family in Somalia. This helps them buy food, pay for shelter and seek medical care if needed.  As you can imagine, medical care is far from great in Somalia and unfortunately one of my family members was just diagnosed with a rapidly growing brain tumor and needs surgery immediately.

Her name is Amaal Abdulqadir Shekhdon, she is my cousin and only 37 years young.

It started with a with frequent headaches over the past few month and when she finally decided to go see a doctor, he misdiagnosed her and said she only needed glasses. Unfortunately, her headaches got worse over time and she decided to go back and get reexamined.
To all of our surprise they found a brain tumor.
Although they aren’t able to advise of the stage, my cousin is showing bad signs of the tumors growth and doctors assume that it is very aggressive.
Over the past week she has already lost her vision and is unable to take care of herself at this point.

My mother’s sister is now taking care of her full time, from feeding to bathing.

Unfortunately, there is no brain tumor treatment in Somalia and Amaal needs to travel to another country in order to receive treatment. We’ve done our research and the most affordable place in the world to get this treatment is in India.

The typical cost of brain tumor surgery/treatment in the US, for patients that are not covered by health insurance, can range from less than $50,000 for a small benign tumor in an accessible location that can be treated with surgery alone up to $700,000 or more for a malignant tumor that must be treated with some combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
Clearly this isn’t anything we can afford.
These numbers are from a site called Cost Helper .

In India a Brain Tumor Surgery costs anywhere from $ 3,999 up to $ 17,573. With an average price of $ 7,972. And those prices are based on 14 MEDIGO Clinics .

In many cases, at the time of diagnosis, treatment decisions must be made quickly, especially with regard to surgery.

With that said I hope that you find it in your heart to help me and my family save my cousin’s life.
No amount of money is too small for us at this time.

If you are unable to donate, we would be very grateful if you could please pray for her and consider sharing this on your page.
