This is Libby. Born on August 22nd, 2016. She is a baby with Down Syndrome. But more importantly, she is a niece, a cousin, a grand-daughter, a daughter, and a sister.
Libby Olive was diagnosed with Congenital heart disease before birth when doctors saw a heart defect in an ultra-sound. Libby has leaky valves, along with a hole between the two chambers of her heart. Symptoms include abnormal heart rhythms, blue-tinted skin, shortness of breath, failure to feed or develop normally, and swollen body tissue or organs. Libby is going to need heart surgery to fix her heart at only 4 months old.
Besides her heart defect, with Down Syndrome, comes other medical problems. Libby has already recieved treatment for Hirschprung's Disease, which involved intestinal surgery, many IVs, a feeding tube, a catheter, ect.
Today is Libby's 13th day in the NICU, fighting her struggles with every ounce of her strength, and her family there every step of the way. Libby has had an extremely hard couple of weeks and an even harder road ahead of her. Her family will have an equally difficult time helping with her recoveries.
In order to help us focus on Libby's recoveries I am setting up this Go Fund Me account to help with all the expenses. The last couple of weeks have been an emotional roller coaster for the Hoyt's but we have not left Libby's side once and do not plan to until she is back home and on the road to recovery.
Libby has a sister getting married October 1st, a sister in college, a sister in grade school, and since Libby's mom has resigned from her job to be with her, the financial burden for the family will be enormous over the next coming months.
All funds raised will be used to help the family with house-hold expenses, transportation cost’s to and from the hospital and most importantly to cover the cost of the medical expenses. Libby's parents are so giving to their community and others, and do not like recieving money from anyone, but I have set up this Go Fund Me page to help them get through this tough time. Being their daughter also, I know first-hand the struggle they are going through emotionally, and financially.
