Save Us From Losing Our Home
Hi my name is Mark, for those that don't know me. I'm a father of 2 girls; Cadence and Violet. Violet was born with a genetic disposition called Microdeletion 1q21.1. This disorder has caused numerous medical issues with her amongst the main ones is that she is autistic. My family was receiving Social Security benefits to help maintain Violet's well-being. Recently though I was given a promotion at work and my wages were increased. You would think that this would not be such a bad thing. My wife was asked to reapply for our welfare food stamp benefit and they asked for my paystubs for income verification. So, of course, we gave them to them. Apparently the welfare system reported to Social Security that I was increased in pay and right before tent was due they cut us off from my daughter's SSI benefit. This was a ridiculous blow to our financial status. They couldnt have picked a worse time to revoke those benefits. With my daughter's condition it is near impossible to get my wife back to work and we can not sustain our household on just my income alone. Even with the increase in pay I am unable to cover the amount of the loss of the SSI benefit money. We have been struggling to pay the rent and we are currently over 2 months behind. Although my landlord has been patient he can not keep us here for much longer and is threatening with eviction. If we are evicted we will truly be on the streets. We also have judgements against us from previous apartment complex rentals. We plan on getting things straightened out but we need a chance. My daughters are settled here in the northeast Philadelphia area and all the services for Violet are here. We don't want to leave. We need help as soon as possible.
