Elliott Stronger Sisters
Donation protected
Who we are:
Over the past 4 years, Elliott School in the Northern Territory has established a program called Stronger Sisters. The aim of the program is to empower the young women of the school, encourage relationships and bonding between them and give them the opportunity to become strong, educated young women.
This year a group of 10 young women are participating in the Stronger Sisters program at Elliott School.
The Stronger Sisters personally invest three afternoons a week to the program. During these afternoons they are involved in programs that are provided by the community Safe House. In addition they spending time organising fundraising, this includes cooking, jewellery making, soap making, perfume making and bush medicine. They sell their handmade products at the school canteen, local events and the local market.
As a Stronger Sister these young women support the community and become positive role models for all the other young girls. They attend Council meetings and help with community events that the Safe House organise such as Pamper Day and the local markets.
What we’re raising money for/How the money will be used:
Although we spend the year fundraising, we need your support, as Elliott is only a small community in remote Northern Territory.
The money you donate will provide us, the Stronger Sisters, with the opportunity to visit another group of Stronger Sisters in Tennant Creek (250km away). There we will meet, connect and inspire each other to achieve the goals we have set. We would also like to travel to Darwin (800km away) for an end of year educational excursion and opportunity to celebrate all of our achievements from throughout the year
How thankful we will be:
We would greatly appreciate any donations your may be able to contribute and will be happy to share the outcomes of how the funds raised were directly used to support the Stronger Sisters. We will certainly forward a certificate of appreciation.
