Help Venezuela's Hospitals
Donation protected
The economic crisis driven by 16 years of an oppressive corruption-filled regime, along with the steep drop in oil prices (Venezuela's largest export) has now translated into a rampant health crisis.
Basic medical needs, like soap, Advil, bandaids are basically non-existent. Being able to disinfect a cut or treat a simple cold or a headache is nearly impossible. Any condition no mater how benign can quickly become serious. A recent health study found that Venezuelan hospitals lack 76% of all medication and 81% of all medical and surgical supplies. One can only imagine what life is like for people with chronic conditions like diabetes, let alone for those with life threatening conditions. Even thought the UN declared the conditions in Venezuela a "humanitarian crisis" president Maduro refuses to ask for international help and has in fact said we have one of "the best health care systems in the world".
It is incredibly difficult to watch from a distance how our country collapses. This is why a group of us in Denver decided to do what we could to help. As of today we have collected over 700 lbs of basic medical supplies and non-prescription medications and have friends and family that work in hospitals waiting to receive it. However, because the government refuses to acknowledge the crisis, sending these supplies in a way that makes it safely through customs and to the hospitals becomes tricky and expensive. Sending this shipment will cost $3000 of which we have already gathered $1000.
We are hoping to raise a total of $3000 that will go towards sending the current shipment and the remaining will be used to send a second batch.
Please help us make a difference in Venezuelan hospitals.
Gracias!
