Sgt Stephens PTSD Assistance
Donation protected
My brother, Sgt. Wes Stephens served 2 tours in the Gulf, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He returned home with severe PTSD and has been struggling to keep himself and his family together. The day after Christmas, 2015, we lost our mom. She and my brother were very close, and after her death he took a steep downward turn. He has been placed in a VA Hospital, and will be out of work until December when/if they release him. His leave balance at work is negative, and he has a wife and child to support. This is an urgent need.
I am trying to raise money to help his family pay his rent, and basic bills to get through the time when he is out of work and out of leave. My brother NEEDS to heal. This is not his first hospitalization, and I am afraid if he doesn't get better I will lose the only brother I have to suicide. We lose far to many veterans this way, and I'm trying to keep him in the hospital to get the help he needs. I don't want him to be a statistic.
Wes volunteered to go to Iraq. He wasn't a kid, he was in his thirties without a wife or kids. I asked him WHY? He said he would rather be sent to war to die instead of an 18 year old with his whole life in front of him. He said "if not me...then who?"
It doesn't surprise me. He was an Eagle Scout, Senior Class President...he has a good heart. He helps people...just like our momma taught us. But, he saw some terrible things happen overseas that he cannot get over and he needs our help now more than ever before.
Please help if you can. Or at least please help spread the word. It would mean so much to him and our family. If you are a federal employee and can donate leave to him that is also welcomed. Thank you for helping us in our fight to get my brother, Sargeant Wes Stephens back on his boots.
