Gary (Gar) James Montanaro, age 48, of Fairfield, passed away on September 4, 2016 at his Fairfield home.

Gary’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends including his wife Allison Tucci, of Fairfield; Mother Bonnie Montanaro of Bridgeport; In-laws David and Cathy Benedetto of Bristol; His daughters, Samantha and Makenzee Montanaro of Fairfield; Granddaughter Giuliana; His Brothers Vincent Montanaro, and his wife Colleen of Bridgeport, Andrew Montanaro of Bridgeport, Jason Montanaro of Monroe; His Nephew and Nieces Vincent, Jesse, Brittney, Molly and Jason; His Great Aunts Eve Salik and Louise Stevens; His Uncles and Aunts Harrison, William, and Cathie Noel; Multiple cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his Father Andrew James Montanaro, Paternal Grandparents Vincent and Elizabeth Montanaro, Maternal Grandparents William and Elizabeth Cotton, Uncle Mike Baker, His Pal Danny McCarthy.

Born in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield, Gary made lifelong friendships, had a great passion for competition and for his Jets, Mets and playing cards with family, friends and especially his brothers on an almost weekly get together. Gary, as with all the Montanaro brothers, could turn the smallest of games into the largest of competitions always striving to win. Whatever Gary applied himself to he would usually come out on top or playfully argue to the end that he was indeed the victor having that innate ability to keep at it until one caved from the Gary’s entrenchment under ones skin. Kidding aside, all this outlined a blessed life, a large part of this blessing was to have the happiness of true love multiple times, first starting with the birth of his Samantha, Gary was so enthralled with Sam, holding her, hugging her all the time, his “Sam Nights” when it was just Sam and Gary spending time together. His next true love came when he met his beloved wife Allison. Words cannot express the joy when they met and when Allison said yes to marry Gary making him the happiest guy on the planet, Gary’s next love came with the birth of his second daughter Makenzee. Like Sam, Makenzee and Gary spent loads of time together palling around. Again Gary was enraptured with his Makenzee, holding Makenzee’s hand all the time while enjoying their times together and their “Kenz time”. Then along comes the birth of his granddaughter Giuliana. This was just the icing on top of his family, a family that he loved so much. Gary’s pride with his family was evident in any conversation had. This love would make the fiercest of people just smile for his blessing. One could conclude that Gary’s Scottish and Italian roots created this passionate love and loyalty to family and friends, epitomizing with the term “Pals”. Gary’s loyalty to friendships showed with his actions of always having a family or friends back within a dichotomy of having a lion manner at times with the heart of the kindness and gentlest of souls. That was evident with his quiet way of always helping a friend along while having the fierce loyalty of watching a friends back. People come and go in one’s life but you could bet that Gary was always there for his family and friends to his last day. Gary was always a Pal. We are going to miss him but take great solace in knowing that he will always be around us, that he is blessed. He passed his love, strength, integrity, determination and loyalty onto those around him, along with knowing that there are plenty of family and friends waiting to greet him in heaven. Please join us in celebrating his life, Gary will be missed but never forgotten.
