Touch Rilla's Heart
Donation protected
My name is Emily Hannan. My life was first touched by Rilla Jones when I met her through her daughter, who I've come to call my best friend.
But Rilla has always been more than just my best friend's mom over the years. To others, she's a sister, a doctor, a friend, a counselor and mediator. She's the firecracker who knows to treat every day like Christmas and who is always down to sing and dance with you through the kitchen. She's become a second mother to me.
She's needed a new heart for a while--a physical one (loving has never been a challenge for her)--and on Saturday, September 10, 2016 she finally got one. Following a call, the family dropped everything to make it to Nashville for a very scary, but necessary, heart transplant.
While everything has gone smoothly thus far and she's on the road to recovery, she's not out of the woods yet. Rilla will be staying at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN for a little while longer before being transferred to a nearby "medically safe" apartment where she will be assisted by her sister Becky for the next four to six months so that she can remain close to the Nashville facilities before going back to her home in Paducah, KY.
Leaving everything back home so immediately has really been a struggle for the whole Jones family, obviously especially for Rilla and Becky. They've all been so brave and resilient through such an emotional time.
That being said, if anyone is able to donate anything--every dollar helps--for her caregivers, the expensive facility and other everyday living necessities, I know the whole family will be forever grateful.
This family and this woman mean the world to me. Any help you can offer (prayers count too!) will be so appreciated.
