Michael’s Injury Benefit Fund

On Monday, September 24th, our brother Michael was making plans to go out to dinner and watch Monday Night Football, with friends, when he started to feel warm. He decided to step outside to get some fresh air. A few minutes later one of his friends found him outside, on the ground and covered in blood. The last thing Michael remembers was everything going black and trying to grab his pickup. When he woke up he was laying on the curb. He had a severe cut on his chin, he broke off part of both of his front teeth, knocked several others loose, and was unable to close his jaw and in pain. He was taken to the emergency room. Several tests were run to try and determine why he fainted. We were very relieved that his EKG and all blood work came back normal with the exception of his kidney levels coming back abnormal indicating dehydration. After several X-rays and scans it was determined Michael had broke his jaw in 3 places: his chin and both sides of his jaw. He received several stitches in his chin and they wired his jaw to stabilize it until surgery. He is scheduled to have surgery to reconstruct his jaw sometime in the next few days when some of the swelling has gone down. He is at home resting until then. He was told his jaw will be wired shut for 2-4 weeks and then bands will be used for another couple weeks. The bands will allow him to slightly open his jaw. After his jaw heals some he will need lots of dental work to repair the damaged sustained in his fall. He has several long weeks ahead of him and will likely not be able to work for a few weeks. Anyone that knows Michael knows he has a big heart and a lot of people who love him. We set up this page to let friends and family know what happened and give updates as well as a way to help him with ongoing medical and living expenses as he recovers. Michael brings laughter, stories and his sense of humor to many a situation. We are grateful to have him in our lives! We hope to lift him up as he goes through this difficult time like he does in many situations for others. All donations, thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated! You’ve got this Michael! We love you! -Kellie Weigel & Jordan York
