St. Luke's Spirit Track Club, is a diverse community centered
track club located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA. The team consist of thirty-five athletes
ages 6-18, from various socio-economic, racial and educational backgrounds. We
believe that any child who has a desire to run, has an opportunity to run. As
an example, in previous years, our roster has included youth living in
transition and foster care, through our community outreach partnerships with a
local family shelter and children services organizations.
Our team is requesting financial assistance to attend and compete at the Flying Angels International Track Classic in this summer. This International Classic will take place the weekend of July 5th, and the United States Track and Field Associations(USATF) Junior Olympics . Both of these events are within 14 days of each other. In previous years, our membership has averaged between 15 and 20 athletes. This year, our numbers have grown to 35 registered athletes. Based on history, we traditionally have between 45% and 50% of our registered athletes qualify for the Junior Olympics. The only other time we competed in , We took 7 athletes, placed in five events received medals in two and had one of our athletes establish a meet record in the Long Jump in their age group.
Additionally, these resources will enable our youth an opportunity to compete Internationally and obtain an experience of a lifetime.
Thank you In advance for your consideration and helping our youth and leaders of tomorrow.
