Dwayne Parkers treatment
This is Major Dwayne Parker, a decorated Marine Corp officer and close friend of mine.
Before he was a Marine he was a Tiger Rock Martial Arts student of Grand Master Bert Kollars in Pensacola, FL.
My name is Terry Newton; I've known Dwayne and his brother Terrence since they were 11 years old. I was an assistant instructor under Grand Master Kollars when they enrolled. I had the opportunity to work with them for a many years and formed a close bond with them. They are in fact as close to me as my own blood born brother so I take this very seriously.
Dwayne and Terrence both have inherited a neurological disorder called (Ataxia). This disorder is very much like ALS and like ALS there is no cure currently available. Their older sister has it as well and it eventually took the life of there father.
As Tiger Rock representatives they were always at the top of their game; fierce competitors; dignified in their representation of the core values described in our tenets: " Honor, Courtesy, Intergrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Courage, Community, Strength, Humility and Knowledge.
Dwayne is also a memebr of the "Omega Psi Phi fraternity." Otherwise as (Q). He was in fact the Ace in his class. That's typical of Dwayne, always striving to be number 1.
In August 2014 Major Parker was scheduled to give a briefing to the United States Air Force in Pheonix, AZ... He never arrived. Marines later found him slumped on the floor of his hotel room where he had suffered a stroke; most likely brought on by the Ataxia he lives with daily.
Major Parker is family to many people. First to his young daughter who has had to wittness the decline of her father; He is family to Tiger Rock as a Grand Master and mentor to a great many other students; He is family to the United States Marine Corp to whom he has served valiantly and unwaveringly. ( OOH-RAH semper fi my friend); He is family to every (Q) Omega Psi Phi fraternity brother in the U.S. as well as being family to my brother and myself. I love him dearly as a brother in Christ.
To all the the Marines out there here is a list of Major Parker's units; (MASS 1 Cherry Point, NC. MASS 1 Springfield MEWS Quantico, VA. ATLMEAS Atlanta, GA. Drill Field PIC MASS 3 Afghanistan CSC Montgomery, AL FHG NOLA .
As a friend and brother to Major Parker I am asking for your help on his behalf. Being the Marine that he is he is adament about asking for anything but he desparately needs it. Thats why I am asking. While there is no cure yet there has been promising work done in Stem Cell research and treatment. Dwayne has been selected for Stem Cell treatment at Bieke Hospital in China. I will be traveling with him as his caretaker. Treatment And travel cost is $22, 000. He is scheduled to leave the U.S. from Atlanta on Septemeber 16, 2016 and return October 3, 2016. As you can see time is of then essence here. We must get him funded quickly. I encourage every Tiger Rock member to help; every U.S. Marine who has ever served this country, every (Q) fraternity brother out there whether you've met Dwayne or not to take part. I'm asking every Christian who claims to have a heart to come to his aid. I consider it an honor to accompany him on this journey in his life and to endeavour for a better quality of life while he can. Fund Him! Get Him to China! Get Him treatmant! Help make His Life Better!
Once a Marine, always a Marine. First into every battlefield and always the last one out. This is His current battlefield. That's been Dwayne for as long as I've known him. If the shoe were on the other foot he would do the same for you.
He will always be a Dad, he will always be Tiger Rock, He will always be a Marine, He will always be a (Q), he will always be my brother and friend. He is OUR brother across the board. Dont let him fall! I implore you, dont be the one who says, " If you need anything at all just let me know." and then does nothing. God's not done with Dwayne yet, we shouldn't be either. I pray that God convicts our hearts and we find it within ourselves to do the right thing. If People can raise $12,000 in three days to take care of an injured dog....How Much is a Mans Life Worth to us?
God bless everyone one who reads this. Lets take care of our brother! Please donate now. His future depends on your heart. God Bless.
