Help Care for Cathy

UPDATE:
We would like to sincerely thank everyone for all of their kind words of encouragement, their thoughts and prayers, and their financial gifts during this time. We are so grateful to everyone who was a part of this journey with us!
Cathy is doing very well. She has had several skin grafts and for the first time, the kids were able to have a video chat with her on Father's Day in which she was awake, alert and in good spirits. She is receiving exceptional care at the Hamilton Burn Unit, but we still look forward to the day she can return home.
Most people know Cathy Bilton from when she ran her own hair dressing studio, Razor's Edge, in Fergus, ON. She is the kind of person who would make house calls to her clients who were unable to make it to her studio, and do their hair in the comfort of their own homes. She is an outgoing, and spontaneous woman who loves her family, her animals and all things gardening. She would be considered someone who could be called "the life of the party". You always know when Cathy is around - she's a bit of a spitfire. She has raised four children who are all adults now, and has spent most of her life living here in Fergus.
On May 23, 2020, Cathy and her husband, Rod, were enjoying an evening bonfire. In a terrible turn of events involving high winds that evening, Cathy's clothes caught fire. The flames were extinguished, but not before extensive 3rd and 4th degree burns to her leg and 60% of her upper torso and head. She was rushed to Groves Memorial for assessment and was air lifted from there to the burn unit in Hamilton. She remains there under heavy sedation as they attend to her injuries. Cathy has undergone the first of many surgeries in an attempt to preserve her leg which sustained the worst of the damage.
We are trying to raise money to assist in recovery when she get back home.
