Cecil Edward Green's Memorial Fund
On Monday, September 12, 2016 Cecil Edward Green, Sr. suffered a massive heart attack. After 10 minutes of working on him the paramedics were able to resuscitate Cecil, but the extent of his injuries are unknown due to his brain being without oxygen for 10 minutes or more.
Cecil was rushed to Lawnwood Hospital and retained in the CVICU (Cardio Vascular Intensive Care Unit) and placed in a medically induced coma. The Neurologist on staff advised the family that “It does not look good” The hospital doctors performed the “Code Ice” procedure a.k.a Therapeutic Hypothermia. The “Code Ice” procedure lowers the body temperature to 32° C and is maintained at this reduced temperature for 12-24 hours. The main goal was to preserve brain function and allow his body to rest. During this time Cecil was placed on paralytics and sedation medications, due to underlying seizures. After 36 hours his body temp was brought slowly back up to 98.6° F.
It’s a week later and Cecil has made minimal improvements. His brain activity is being monitored and recorded. The Glasgow Neurological Coma Scales places him at a total score of 6 (he was at a 3) with 15 being the best response. He is unable to be removed from the sedation due to his blood pressure rising. He is still intubated and has had NO response to verbal commands. A second neurological opinion is being considered, and there is talk of feeding and tracheal tubes needed.
Cecil’s wife, mother, children and siblings have spent EVERY waking minute at the hospital with the hopes of a turn-around and are anxiously awaiting some good news.
Cecil is a fighter. Him and his family have a VERY long road ahead of them......Cost of living bills are piling up, as are medical bills, and with Kathy, Cecil's wife, being unable to work currently, due being by her husbands side, ANY donation would help. If you have the means to assist; whether it be financially, running errands, spiritually, etc. I ask that you consider doing so...Please
Cecil Green is one of the most generous people I've ever come to meet. He assists anyone without hesitation and is happy to do it.
He is a devoted husband and son, a dedicated father, and an excellent friend, brother and uncle with a big heart. He is the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and an extra; just in case :-)
Thank you for your generosity. The family thanks you too....
With love,
Nikki Tipton - Cecil's niece in law
