Colouring Book of the Dreamtime

My name is Mirree, I am a Professional Contempoary Aboriginal Artist, I paint full-time for a living out of my studio in the Cenral West of NSW in Australia. I started a series of 44 Animal Dreaming 1-meter Original Painting back in 2011, now that I am half way finished I have turned half of the paintings into Colouring Templates and put them into a book.

I came on here to raise funds to support "The Colouring Book of the Dreamtime", it is a Colouring Book for kids, adults and beginners alike.

The money raised on this campign will be used to fund  the additional expenses that I could not make up personally. Such as the making of the A6 sized 2nd reference book, which will act as a guide book for those just starting out. Also the postage fee so that it gets transported safely from China to Australia. 

Theres been a lot of work been put into the book since June that I alone have been working Full-Time on, from creating the templates, to self-publishing the book, to the marketing, to production and delivery from overseas. And I have been doing it all on my own without any support from outside so that I could save time & money and get everything done ASAP. So that is why I decided now to seek the suport from those of you who would love a unique Colouring book straight from an Indigenous Artist in time for xmas and support such a wonderful community initiative. Since June, I have not been receiving an income as I've been working hard to complete the book, all sales from the book has gone towards the publishing and maunfacting of the book overseas, any extra money I've needed for the project has come from my own savings. The retail price for the Colouring book and Companion book together is only $25.95. Colouring Book on it's own will be $16.95 and the Companion Book will be $12.95 on it's own. (This does not include shipping for both the books to be shipped.) The books will only be made available online, this way it decreases the amount of work I have to do and concentrate more on creating more new Artwork for people. Because I do all the creating of the Artworks that the templates were made from, marketing for the book, I handled the entire process of the manufacturing, writing for the book, publishing for the book, and advertising. This doesnt even include the shipping of all books once they arrive.

I've sold 365 books on the pre-sell already but it's still not enough! Because the original concept was for 1 book, the companion and colouring book in 1, but as more time went by I realised having it all in 1 book doesnt make any sense. So I under-calculated the RRP and most of these orders got both books for the $16.95. The book has been popular so please spread the word to make it a hit so we can get this book delivered via express post so we can all enjoy it to begin delivery of the books on October 31st!

I need the money ASAP so that everything can go ahead to plan and so that these books can get out there to everyone by the end of October. 

This means so much to me because Aboriginal suicide within Australia is at an all time high for children between the ages of 10-24 and drug use amongst Aboriginal youth today has reached critical point.
Art is a way of life for Aboriginal people in my country, coming from an Aboriginal family myself, I have experienced 1st hand some of these challenges that kids are facing today. 10% of the funds will go back to Indigenous kids to support Suicide and Drug prevention.

2016 was a pivotal point as I created a "Colouring Book of the Dreamtime" for kids, adults and beginners in order to bring more awareness of culture so that kids and adults can feel that sense of belonging to the land again in Australia without segregation, judgement or the hardships they are facing today.
The Aboriginal culture of Australia is the oldest surviving culture in the World, with the rainbow serpent of Aboriginal culture being the oldest and most popular religious belief in the world.

I would like to create enough books to reach all the government and indigenous education places that are desperately in need of ideas and resources in order to tackle this issue head on with a better strategy
that is more in line with culture, education and connection back to country to help these kids feel a sense of belonging again so that they can see that someone really cares and that life is worth living again.

I believe by getting this book out ASAP it will begin to tackle some of these issues so that more healing can take place, as I truly understand what they are going through and wish the best for them. I know I would be lost if I couldnt continue to do my Art on a daily basis, so what better way to now help other kids and adults too through the creation of this book.

This project to date has been totally indepedent, please help to keep it that way. I have put alot of work in this project please help me to push this ahead to completion, greatly appreciated!

The sad thing is most people wouldnt see something like this to be so significant in the lives of Indigenous kids and Adults. Its a simple act of generosity and one that by-passes the government so that there is more community & cultural spirit involved.
