Kimberly's Medical Fund
As many of our friends and family members already know my stepmom, Kimberly Sheffield, was in a horrific car accident on July 7th 2016. She was exiting the freeway when she was literally ran over by a drunk driver who was entering the freeway the wrong way.
He walked away with nothing but scratches and bruises. While she struggled for her life in the ICU for over two weeks. She required multiple high risk surgeries, and the doctors were worried that she may never walk again. Having never broken a single bone before she now had broken what seemed like every bone in her body. She broke her neck, her hip, both her legs, her arm, 10 ribs, and shattered her elbow and ankle, just to name a few... She is still unable to sit up on her own without the assistance of her physical therapist, but she's a fighter. Right now she is in a nursing and rehabilitation facility where they are doing physical therapy to help her regain her strength. She has come a long way, but will still be on the road to recovery for quite some time.
I am creating this account because we were recently informed that her insurance has topped out, and so she will no longer be receiving her physical therapy and will have to pay out of pocket to stay in the nursing and rehabilitation facility. The doctors have said that she should not be sent home until she is able to put weight on her feet again, which they say at the earliest will be October 20th. That's still a month away...
On top of that, Kimberly still has many medical bills to be paid, but what we are most concerned about right now is that she gets the care she needs in order to go home safely and when doctors say she is able to.
Please help us raise the money to allow her to stay and get the care that she needs until she is able to go home. Any donations at all will be greatly appreciated by all of us! Kim is more like my mom then my stepmom, and has always been the person who is there for anyone whenever they need it. Please help us in being there for her! Thank you and God bless!
