Miles To Help Homeless Children

Tax deductible
Project Hawaii, Inc. is a local charity whose mission is to enhance the lives of homeless keiki (native Hawaiian word for children).  They provide much needed help and resources to break the cycle and help these kids escape the cycle of poverty.

For the third year in a row myself and several other fellow service members, are getting our coworkers and families to sponsor us in marching 20 miles, while carrying 50 pound ruck sacks on our backs to raise money for Project Hawaii. We are trying to do more than just raise awareness for these children, we are trying to help a charity that gets in there and actually makes a difference that can be seen.  Why would we put on boots and carry 50 pounds and march 20 miles you ask? Because we see and believe in the difference Project Hawaii makes for these children.  These numbers are significant because 20 miles is the length of the Waianae district, which holds the largest population of homeless children in Hawaii.  50 pounds is the average weight of a healthy and well-nourished seven-year-old child.  This was to symbolize us trying to do our part to carry them out of their situation.

This year on November 2nd, we are going to make the same long march in support of this great charity.  Last year we raised more than the year before; help us continue this trend. We anticipate more people making the march and hope to raise more funds for the keiki.  We would be proud and delighted if anyone could help donate to this great cause and share this around to get the word out.
