Ashley Mayne - daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend - but most importantly in this life she left behind...she was Mom to Kaitlyn, Madison and Christopher.
Those of us closest to her, knew she had been struggling with creating a new life for her and her babies - but never imagined the secret battle and thoughts she was fighting inside her mind. We are heartbroken and devastated that our sister was fighting a mental illness that she didn't think she could get through.
There are so many unanswered questions, scenarios, thoughts, what if's, could have's, should have's. The truth is - we will never have the answers we seek - and neither will Kaitlyn, Madison and Christopher.
All we can do now, is go forward - be strong, and provide the stability, love and care that these kids deserve.
I never in my life imagined I would be writing this or putting together a GoFundMe on behalf of my neices and nephew who just lost their mother.
We will give them the best life that we can. Christmas, Birthdays, First Days of School, School Sports, Field Trips, Homecomings, Proms, Graduation, College, Wedding Days....there are a lot of things that I'm sure if Ashley had thought about - she would have chosen life, not death.
Many have asked what they can do, how they can help - we put this here for that reason. Kaitlyn, Madison and Christopher can use your help the most. This is for them.
Continue to pray for these children, our family, and all of those families around the world who struggle with the tragic effect that mental illness and suicide has on a family.
All our thanks,
Debra & Carrie Mayne
