Jason Needs Your Help

We are passing the hat for Jason Vandenberg.
Back in December 2019, Jason was diagnosed with a genetic heart condition which leads to congestive heart failure and sudden death syndrome. For the last five months, he has been in and out of hospital. While he has benefited from the excellent care he received at Cedars Sinai, his condition is deemed terminal by his physicians since his heart is only working at 6% capacity.
At the end of May 2020, thinking he had days to live, he signed up for hospice care and was transferred to a nursing home facility. However, being at the facility gave him a new zest for life, and he left the facility less than a day after he had arrived.
He continues to receive hospice care, and a sense of hope and liveliness has returned to him. When he went into the hospital at the end of May, he gave up the room he was renting. Now, he is searching for a permanent living situation.
Fortunately, all of his hospital and hospice care has been paid for. However, he can not work and he has a federal disability claim pending. We’re currently looking for donations to help with his living expenses as he begins a new chapter in his life.
Before all this, Jason was an active runner, swimmer, and yacht racer. However, today, he remains a bright burst of energy and a kind and loving soul. The fact that he’s alive is a miracle. Now, we’re trying to make him as comfortable as possible.
