For whatever reason you have been led to hear my story, thank you. Thank you for giving my thoughts your attention. I would like to share with you where the passions of my heart lie, and how these passions have led me to what's in store for me next summer.
Sometimes doors in life our closed, and the door for me to go to Uganda was closed. Baffled by this news, I leaned into the Lord, trying to figure out what serving will look like for me this summer. I came across an application for a summer program involving service and music (two of my favorite things) and jumped on the opportunity to be part of that. I am a firm believer in using the gifts you have been given, and being able to share the gift of music with others is a blessing in itself. Though my heart breaks knowing I will not get to go to Uganda, I am excited to be entering into this journey with YWAM Tentmakers.
For those of you unfamiliar with YWAM, also known as Youth With a Mission, it is a program with thousands of locations across the world, equipping students and young adults with the capabilities of sharing the Gospel while integrating the passions and talents of each and every one of us. This summer I will be stationed in Seattle, Washington in the Cascade Mountains for 8 days learning about centering my heart in worship and what it looks like worshipping around the world. The music and worship team will also be accompanied by a visual arts group, so we will all be joining each other in this journey. After 8 days of extensive training, a team of young adults along with myself will venture out to South Asia for a few weeks where we get the privilege of sharing music and art with the people there.
Though this next short season of my life is not at all what I pictured, I know it will be sweet. I cannot embark on this journey without the support of friends and family, whether that is financially or through prayer. In terms of prayer, going on a journey like this with a group I have not yet met can be both scary and exciting, so our group could use prayers of cohesion and finding the willingness to love each other well within this time we get to spend together. I could also use prayer for myself in stripping myself of any expectations I may have so I can be fully present. If you feel led to support me financially, feel free to donate here.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting me through prayer and/or financially. This trip will not be possible without your generosity. Your friendship is a blessing, and I look forward to taking part in this experience with you.
Grateful for the places God draws us,
Lindsey Locker
