Help Chance Horse Hit By Truck
Donation protected
On October 4th, 2016, a sweet 18-year-old gelding was being trailered by his owners to go do cattle work. Chance loved to work cattle. While at a dead stop in traffic, A young man, covered in sleeve tattoos slammed into Chance's trailer at an estimated speed of 60 miles an hour. Chance was not expected to make it through the night, but he did. X-rays show that Chance's jaw is completely broken. The break is enormous. He was unable to be taken to UC DAVIS because he was not expected to live through the night. Chance is fighting hard to live and was even trying to eat grain this morning, albeit while under the influence of pain medications . The terrible person who crashed into Chance's trailer jumped out of the truck he was in and somehow fled the scene in another vehicle. Police have been searching for him. Chance needs to go to UC Davis for comprehensive workup to see if there are internal injuries, if the broken jaw can be fixed, and to determine if there are more fractures in his skull. Chance is a real fighter and his owners have limited funds and will do whatever they can. The vet who has been taking care of him has been a doll and has donated most of her time but as she said he must go to UC Davis now.
