Lexie York

Alexandra York was on a family vacation in Cancun when she was severely beaten by another guest at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum.
In late October Lexie discovered her parents wished to pay for her and some other family members to go on vacation together. Lexie was very appreciative of the offer and was quite excited about the trip.
On November 11th, 2019 what should have been an amazing family vacation took a horrific turn.
Late one evening Lexie went for a bite to eat at the resort restaurant and was befriended by a couple. Later that evening there was a knock on Lexie’s door and the man claimed to be there to check on Lexie. It was then that he attacked her in her room and left her lying there beaten, strangled and unconscious. Lexie escaped the room despite her injuries and was calling out for help until another guest heard her and came to her aid. She was taken by ambulance and admitted to Hospitan Playa Del Carmen, and was later transferred to a hospital in Cancun. Lexie was in the hospital receiving care for 48 hours before the doctors felt they could safely perform the required surgery due to all the swelling. The reconstructive surgery took a grueling 9.5 hours as Lexie suffered from multiple facial fractures, as well as a fractured orbital bone, and several lacerations to the face and neck.
Lexie is a beautiful, intelligent, kind hearted, generous and trusting young woman. She is a loving daughter, sister and Auntie, who cares about everyone around her; Lexie is a great friend and co-worker to all. Everyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing Lexie adores her.
Your donations will help with the ongoing care Lexie has yet to receive, as it is unclear when Lexie will be cleared to travel back to Canada. Please help us raise some money to help with Lexie’s recovery and to bring her home as soon as it is safe for her to do so. Presently Lexie has family with her in Cancun, the funds would also help to ensure that someone Lexie trusts may stay with her at all times to help comfort and make her feel safe.
